I drive by it every day. It’s south facing and when the sun is shining… it’s stunning. I think it goes unnoticed for the most part, but to me, it was oddly inspiring.

I started out with a base coat of DIY Paint™’s Gypsy Green.

I then started blending colours to try to capture the ‘fence’.

I just kept blending. I used about a dozen different colours from the DIY Paint™ line to create the look I wanted. If you’re unfamiliar with DIY Paint™, the ability to blend is absolutely phenomenal!
I kept referencing back to the fence just to make sure I was on the right track.

I was thrilled with how it turned out – I loved it! However, now the interior needed something special. I couldn’t just leave it unfinished because being used as a coffee/tea bar would mean that the doors would undoubtedly be left open for the most part. It took me a while to decide on a plan of action but once I’ve got something in mind – it’s full speed ahead!
The following is a quick-time video of the interior work. I wish it was this quick in real life!

My plan was to use this cabinet as my little beverage spot in the store for workshop nights. However, the same evening I posted it completed, it sold. Sometimes that happens and it’s okay, I’ll just find something else to paint for me… someday. I’m just glad that the lady that bought this piece, loved it as much as I did.
I enjoyed painting this cabinet. It was completely different than anything else I’ve done and being such a big piece, it was risky. What if it was a disaster? What if everyone (including me) hated it? Sometimes, being an artist is hard. Your main focus has to be on how a piece makes you feel, that’s all that really matters. Creating something just in order to try to please everyone else is sure to burn you out. So, get out there and do you. You can’t go wrong.
